What Does This Tool Do?
This converter reads a PDF's page content directly — the same instructions a PDF viewer uses to draw text on screen — and turns each line of text back into a paragraph in a real, editable Word document. A page break is inserted between each source page, so the reading order of a multi-page PDF is preserved.
This only works on PDFs that already contain real, selectable text. If you can highlight and copy text from the PDF in a normal viewer, this tool can extract it. A scanned document saved as a PDF is really just a picture of a page with no text layer at all — recovering text from an image requires OCR (optical character recognition), a different technology this converter does not perform.
Pictures embedded in the PDF come across too — JPEG photos and PNG-representable images are pulled out and placed into the Word document at roughly the point they appear in the page, not just left behind as text. A handful of rarer image encodings (fax-compressed scans, JPEG2000) aren't supported and are skipped rather than shown as a broken image.

Privacy: Where Your Files Go
Extracting text from a PDF means reading its internal content streams, so this tool does the work on our servers rather than in your browser. Files travel over HTTPS, are processed, and the .docx result comes straight back to you. They are never sold, shared with third parties or used for advertising.
That said, uploading is uploading. If a document contains material you are not permitted to transmit, use a desktop tool instead — we would rather say that plainly than claim a privacy guarantee this design cannot make.

This tool goes one direction: PDF into Word. For the reverse — turning a Word document into a PDF that keeps its exact layout — use the Word to Pdf tool. The two are not perfectly symmetric: a PDF describes fixed positions on a page rather than paragraphs and styles, so converting back to Word means reconstructing readable, editable text rather than an identical layout.
Tips for a Clean Conversion
- Check the PDF has real text first — try selecting a sentence in your PDF viewer. If nothing highlights, it's a scanned image and this tool cannot extract it.
- Remove passwords before uploading; encrypted files are rejected rather than silently skipped.
- Expect to re-apply formatting such as fonts, spacing and headings after conversion.
- For tables, expect tab-separated text rather than a grid — reformat as a Word table if needed.
