What is a Salary Calculator?
A salary calculator normalises pay so you can compare offers that are quoted differently. One role pays by the hour, another quotes a monthly package, a third advertises an annual figure with allowances bundled in. This tool converts any of them into all the others, then applies allowances and deductions so you see both the gross package and the net take-home pay for every pay period at once.
Gross vs Net: Why the Numbers Differ
Gross pay is the headline. Net pay is what reaches your bank. Between them sit social insurance contributions, income tax where it applies, and any employer-specific deductions. In Saudi Arabia and most of the GCC there is no personal income tax, so the main deduction is social insurance — which makes the gap between gross and net much narrower than in Europe or North America.

Understanding a Saudi Salary Package
- Basic salary: the contractual core. End-of-service benefits and many other entitlements are calculated from it, which is why a package weighted heavily towards allowances is worth less than it appears.
- Housing allowance: commonly the largest allowance, often paid quarterly or annually as a lump sum equal to two or three months of basic salary.
- Transport allowance: usually a fixed monthly amount.
- GOSI: social insurance administered by the General Organization for Social Insurance, calculated on basic salary plus housing allowance up to a monthly ceiling. Rates differ between Saudi nationals and expatriates and have been subject to reform, so set the rate that matches your own contract.
- Working hours: Saudi labour law sets normal hours at 8 per day or 48 per week, reduced to 6 per day during Ramadan for Muslim employees.
Converting an Hourly Rate to an Annual Salary
The arithmetic is simple, but the assumptions matter. Multiply the hourly rate by hours per week and then by paid weeks per year. At 40 hours across 52 weeks, an hourly rate of 100 gives 208,000 a year. Drop to 48 paid weeks to reflect unpaid leave and the same rate yields 192,000 — an 8% difference driven entirely by the assumption, not the rate.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
What does this salary calculator do?
It converts pay between hourly, daily, weekly, fortnightly, semi-monthly, monthly and annual periods, then applies allowances and deductions to show gross and net figures for every period.
How do I convert an hourly rate to an annual salary?
Multiply the hourly rate by your hours per week and then by the number of paid weeks per year. For example, SAR 100 per hour at 40 hours over 52 weeks equals SAR 208,000 a year.
What is the difference between gross and net salary?
Gross salary is your total pay before deductions. Net salary — or take-home pay — is what actually reaches your account after social insurance, tax and any other deductions.
What is GOSI and who pays it?
GOSI is Saudi Arabia's General Organization for Social Insurance. Contributions are shared between employer and employee, calculated on basic salary plus housing allowance up to a monthly ceiling. Rates depend on nationality and scheme, so the calculator lets you set your own rate and ceiling.
Is salary taxed in Saudi Arabia?
No. Saudi Arabia does not levy personal income tax on employment income, so you can leave the income tax rate at 0%. The same applies across most of the GCC.
How many working hours are normal in Saudi Arabia?
Saudi labour law sets normal working hours at 8 per day or 48 per week, reduced to 6 hours a day during Ramadan for Muslim employees.
Should housing allowance be included?
Include it to see your true total package. It matters because social insurance contributions in Saudi Arabia are calculated on basic salary plus housing allowance.
How do I account for unpaid leave?
Reduce the paid weeks per year figure. Dropping from 52 to 50 weeks, for example, models two weeks of unpaid leave.
Does it calculate end-of-service benefits?
No. End-of-service gratuity is a separate entitlement based on years of service and final salary, and is not part of a routine payslip calculation.
Is my salary information private?
Yes. Everything is computed locally in your browser — nothing is sent to a server or stored.
