Age Calculator - Find Your Exact Age in Years, Months & Days

Enter a date of birth to get an exact age in years, months and days — plus total days, weeks and hours lived, the next birthday, and the weekday you were born on.

Defaults to today. Change it to check a future or past age.

❌ Enter a valid date of birth and comparison date.

Ages are calculated on calendar dates in UTC, the same way official documents count age: a full year is only added once the birthday has passed.

What is an Age Calculator?

An age calculator measures the gap between a date of birth and another date the way official records do: complete years first, then whole months, then leftover days. That sounds obvious until you try it by hand, because months have different lengths and leap years break simple arithmetic. This tool handles both correctly and also gives you the same age expressed as total months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds.

How Exact Age Is Calculated

The rule is that a unit only counts once it is complete. Someone born on 15 June 1995 is not 30 on 14 June 2025 — they are 29 years, 11 months and 30 days old. The calculation subtracts the birth date's year, month and day from the target date's, then borrows: if the day is negative it takes the number of days in the month preceding the target date, and if the month is then negative it borrows twelve months from the year.

  • Exact age in years, months and days
  • Total months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds lived
  • Days until your next birthday, and which weekday it falls on
  • The weekday you were born on
  • Your western star sign
  • Any comparison date — past or future, not just today

Leap Years, Month Lengths and Time Zones

Three details cause most age-calculation bugs, and all three are handled here:

  • Leap years: a year is a leap year if divisible by 4, except centuries, unless divisible by 400. The calculator works with real calendar dates, so leap days are counted automatically. Anyone born on 29 February sees their birthday roll to 1 March in non-leap years.
  • Month lengths:because months run from 28 to 31 days, "one month" is not a fixed number of days. The borrow step uses the actual length of the relevant month.
  • Time zones: all dates are handled in UTC, so your calculated age never shifts by a day depending on where you are or when your browser thinks midnight is.

Hijri and Gregorian Ages

This calculator uses the Gregorian calendar, which is what passports, visas and most official forms use. Worth knowing: a Hijri year is about 354 days, roughly 11 days shorter than a Gregorian year, so a Hijri age is always slightly higher than the equivalent Gregorian one — by about one year every 33. If a document asks specifically for a Hijri age, convert the date rather than the age.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How does an age calculator work?

It compares your date of birth with a target date and counts complete years first, then remaining months, then remaining days — the same way official documents determine age.

How do I calculate my exact age?

Enter your date of birth and leave the second date as today. The calculator shows your age as years, months and days along with total days, weeks, hours, minutes and seconds lived.

Can I find my age on a future date?

Yes. Change the second date to any future date to see how old you will be then — useful for visa, exam and eligibility deadlines.

How are months counted?

A month is complete only when the same day-of-month is reached. If the day has not arrived yet, the calculator borrows the correct number of days from the previous month, so results respect months of different lengths.

How are leap years handled?

Leap days are counted automatically because the calculator works with real calendar dates. Anyone born on 29 February will see their birthday fall on 1 March in non-leap years.

Why is my age in months not simply years × 12?

It is years × 12 plus the leftover months, and the leftover days are reported separately rather than being rounded into a month.

Does it tell me what day I was born?

Yes. It shows the weekday of your birth date and your western star sign.

Does my time zone affect the result?

No. Dates are handled in UTC, so the calculated age never shifts by a day depending on where you are.

Can I calculate someone else's age?

Yes. The calculator works with any date of birth, so you can check a child's age for school entry or a family member's age on a specific date.

Is my date of birth stored?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is uploaded or saved.
